Denver Zoo

The Denver Zoo is a great place for family and kids to enjoy summer together while learning about the wild animals of Africa. There are many exciting events happening at the zoo during this summer, including an African Safari. This event provides you with a chance to ride on a safari bus through the zoo while observing some of your favorite animals such as elephants, lions, zebras, and even giraffes up close! The festival also features music and dance performances from cultures all over Africa that may include African drumming or musical dance numbers.

If you plan on purchasing tickets, go early because they have discounted rates when you get there before 11:00 am. In addition, visitors get $1 off per ticket every day if they bring a can of food to donate to the Food Bank for Larimer County. So you will not only get to see amazing animals, but you’ll be helping out those in need of food as well!

The zoo is open from 9:00 am-5:00 pm every day through September 5th, which means there’s still time this summer to catch the African Safari and celebrate the 38th anniversary with them.

The new Sauti Yetu Africa Festival is a great way for visitors and community members alike to experience African culture by dancing and enjoying live music from a variety of talented artists. Don’t miss out on this year’s festival – it runs until Sunday, Aug 16th from 1:30-4:15 pm at the zoo. This is a free event and you can even purchase a VIP ticket for $5 if you would like to have unlimited access to the food truck party with delicious African cuisine, snacks and desserts.

In addition to all of these exciting events happening at the Denver Zoo, there are also some animals who are celebrating birthdays this summer! At least four different animals are having birthday parties at the zoo throughout July & August, including Dara the giraffe, Nama the elephant and Zuri the gorilla. There will be special activities taking place on their big days such as keeper chats with staff about their care or going on Virtual Giraffe Walks – it’ll feel like you’re right in Africa surrounded by beautiful wildlife! The gorillas will even have a special treat of birthday cake on Saturday, July 18th.

The zoo is also offering some great deals this summer for those who are looking to save money. You can get $2 off per ticket after 3:00 pm if you purchase online and print your own tickets at home – it’ll save time and tons of moola! And starting this month, visitors will be able to take the Light Rail directly to the Denver Zoo from Union Station or other light rail stops along RTD’s W Line. So no more worrying about parking or feeling rushed when you’re going in to see your favorite animals before closing time – all that matters is making sure you enjoy yourself!
